ATTENTION COLLECTOR: these are the last bottles of the version made with casks that contained Davidoff cigars. There will be no more new batches. Indeed, the successor to this rum is not made from Davidoff cigars, even if the principle remains the same.
Kuna Davidoff is the original marriage between rum from Panama and the famous cigar maker Davidoff.
Davidoff ferments and ages its cigar leaves in American oak barrels that have previously contained bourbon. These barrels are reused to age Kuna Davidoff rum.
The traditional rum is distilled by Varela Hermanos (which also produces Abuelo). After initial aging in ex-bourbon American oak barrels, it is transferred to the Davidoff casks mentioned above. This finish brings out its distinctive empyreumatic aromas.
Nico's tasting notes
The nose of this rum is extremely surprising. There's no mistaking it: the cigar is 200% present. It's a fresh, fat tobacco that coats the nostrils from the outset. The notes of red fruit and heady flowers (rose) that follow also seem to emanate from the cigar leaf.
Aeration brings lightly toasted notes, like bread briefly put under the grill. Tobacco remains unquestionably the only master on board, although it takes on some nougat and chocolate aromas with time.
The palate is striking, with powerful aromas of fermented tobacco and red fruits. The rum is quite round, but the vegetal is stronger than all and imposes its complex flavors, with a certain sensation of acidity.
The finish is very distinctive, leaving a peppery taste on the tongue. The dry tobacco leaf remains on the palate for a long time.
"Quite simply a UFO. A rum dominated by tobacco leaf in all its forms..."

A product that stands out from most ..... rums. You have to tame it and take the time to taste it and regret it, and even come back to it after comparing it with other rums to really get a feel for it. A product with an emblematic tobacco nose that is confirmed on the palate. I'm a rum lover, but in my experience, I had to come back more than once to fall in love. Very special, with a different approach to rum tasting, this is a rum that has left its mark on me and shows me that the rum adventure is just a bottomless pit :)...... Avis au amateur , ne soyez pas fermer ;) A little expensive for a rum but it's worth buying even at 250 E.

Each glass of this bottle will be systematically accompanied by a fine vitola (= cigar), not necessarily always a Davidoff cigar, but always a hand-rolled cigar. All this with a good read or with epicurean friends, leaving time to time.
