Ferroni Ambre Noir 47°: Description and customer reviews

Ambre Noir is a Maison Ferroni blend. It is composed of old rums selected and blended by Guillaume Ferroni in the cellars of Château des Creissauds.

This blend is aged in Muscat de Beaumes-de-Venise barrels. Muscat de Beaumes-de-Venise is an appellation d'origine contrôlée produced in the Vaucluse region in the communes of Beaumes-de-Venise and Aubignan.

Nico's tasting notes

At first, the nose is rather light, with aromas of tart red fruit and banana candies, a little like English candy. These fruits then thicken, and we move towards dried apricots or candied cherries.

With aeration, a touch of slightly smoky fruit paste adds complexity and depth. Its slightly licorice-like vegetal character evokes dark but fluid molasses, overlaying toasty oak and roasted nuts.

The palate is much fuller, fuller and more concentrated than the nose would have suggested. With its oily texture, the rum invades and coats the palate beautifully. Its complex aromas of guava jam, quince paste, baked apples and cores form a solid pastry character, soon joined by notes of molasses, coffee and roasted nuts.

The finish is round and very greedy, on licorice and coffee, with a slight hint of resin and even camphor.

"It's mainly thanks to its oily, dark mouth that we understand the name of this rum..."

Good rum. Also bought because it's my namesake ;-) I recommend
