Like all the rums from this venerable house, this Hampden has been pot still distilled. But not all have aged for 35 years!
Much of the ageing took place on site, and some in Scotland, where the cask was held by a broker for a long time.
Distilled in 1983 andcask strengthbottled in 2019 by Edition Spirits in Glasgow under the Kill Devil brand, this rum has retained all its aromatic power.
Only 198 bottles were made from this unique barrel.

An exceptional rum with a nose which is very pleasant, notes of ripe/rotten fruit, notes of wood varnish and engine oil, it should be left in the worm for at least 1 hour to taste all these qualities once in it. in the mouth the first thing it dries out the whole palate then comes notes of banana and pineapple to arrive at a very dark but delicate woodiness and finally finish with notes of varnish and motor oil very dark but very well balanced with a side come back and afterward sip always the very dry side but softer and a beautiful cry in the spices clove pepper notes of green bananas and once again the wood the varnish and the motor oil a very good alcohol integrated in the end a 58° with a feeling of 49/50
For my rating I cannot give value for money because it is out of category for me
But in terms of aromatic concentration and aromatic diversity it’s 19/20

In short, a traditional English rum from molasses distilled in a Jamaican Steel pot of impeccable quality and incomparable taste level once again Hampden did its job very well and kill devil bottled very well
